Amsterdam Conference
Appx Conference 2007 - Haven't Decided Yet? Still haven't decided if the Appx Conference is for you? First of all, it's a great way to meet other Appx resellers and customers, to share ideas and to meet the people behind Appx itself. Secondly, we have an agenda packed with interesting topics that should appeal to all Appx users & programmers. Here are the highlights: Wednesday Evening We start the conference with a relaxing evening of drinks & snacks, where you can mingle with your fellow attendees and guests. Thursday Morning A detailed presentation on Release 4.3. This release is expected to include Data Encryption, secure SSL connections, the ability to audit selected fields in your data, and more. These days, security and identity theft are more and more of a concern, and the changes that are being introduced in Appx will help you secure your data: Data Encryption will protect your data in case it is lost or stolen, secure SSL connections will allow you to access your data over the Internet without fear of a 'man in the middle' attack, and the audit capability could alert you to any unauthorized changes in your data. This presentation will give you a detailed look at these important changes. Overview of Release 4.4 Steve Frizzell, President of Appx Software, Inc., will give us an overview of the plans for Release 4.4. This is your chance to hear firsthand what's coming, and to make your preferences known to the authors of Appx. Thursday Afternoon Dual Track Breakout Sessions The afternoon sessions will have something for everyone. There will be a 'technical' track aimed at programmers that will cover using ODBC databases & performance tuning, using & understanding the new Appx connection services, strategies for migrating your character based Applications to the GUI environment, and using the built in Language Translation capabilities. For users and System Administrators, there will be sessions on Self Service support (where can I go for help?), using the included Report Writer, and how to get your Appx data into Excel. Whichever track you attend, you're bound to learn something new! Thursday Evening Thursday evening you can relax on a cruise of the canals of Amsterdam, combined with dinner at one of Amsterdam's many fine restaurants. Friday Morning Reseller/Customer Presentations Find out what other Resellers and Customers are doing with Appx. We'll have a series of presentations where they show off their Applications, tools and any tricks or techniques they have discovered. The Future of Appx Finally, Steve Frizzell will enlighten us on what changes we can expect in the future. This will be followed by an open question & answer session with Steve and the staff of CWI. Of course, both conference days also include coffee breaks and lunch. If the conference alone doesn't sound like it provides enough material for you, then you might be interested in attending the training courses we're offering in the days before the conference. Monday will be a full day on working with the new GUI and PDF capabilities of Appx. On Tuesday, we look at the different ways Appx can be integrated with the Internet, and Wednesday is split between a detailed session on installing/configuring 4.3 and a Tips & Techniques session where you are almost guaranteed to add something to your knowledge!
